2001 Formula Vee Champion (Spyder and GAC01)
GAC01
Jeremy and GAC (race engines) had always had a close working relationship and in 2001 GAC threw Jez a lifeline when they approached him with an offer for him to assist in the development of the newly designed Formula Vee GAC01.
Already leading the 2001 Championship with the Spyder FVee but desperately short of funds, Jeremy tested and developed the new car with Alan Woodward and Graham Card of GAC, it was a stunning new design, and immediately drew attention with its Formula Ford looks and styling, it was quick straight from the box.
The results were clear for all to see when Jeremy qualified the GAC01 at Cadwell Park (on only its second outing) on Pole Position, a staggering 1.2 seconds ahead of the second placed car.
He then went on to win what should not have been a closely fought race (although the car was certainly quick, loose brake and throttle pedal grips caused problems during this race) but he persevered and scored the maiden victory for the GAC01.
For the remainder of the season Jeremy continued to work with GAC, the data acquisition obtained from Jeremy that year used to coach and guide the team’s subsequent paying drivers.
As the season came to its end, Jeremy and GAC secured the title comfortably at the final round of the season at Jez's home circuit, Snetterton.
